There's More To These Art Classes Than Meets The Eye

Kidz Art at the Eustis Museum of Art

Through the creation of art, people can express themselves in ways they often can't with words. This is most visible in children, where creativity becomes a positive outlet—especially for those with special needs.

Take James, who was diagnosed with autism at age four. He was quiet around his peers and often found social situations awkward. James had always been interested in art, and when his mother learned about Lake Eustis Museum of Art's "KIDZART" program, she signed him up immediately.

James clicked with the program from the get-go and continued taking classes over the next four years. In 2018, James took part in a special program the Museum offered in conjunction with the UCF Center for Autism and Related Disabilities called "Spectral Evidence II." Thanks to the Museum, James has gained confidence in himself as an artist and has made great strides in all areas of his life—socially as well as emotionally.

James is just one of many lives impacted by the Museum. We see firsthand how art changes lives for good on a daily basis. Whether it's learning self-expression through our KIDZART classes, painting portraits, creating one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces, or discussing art-themed literature, art can break through to engage, enrich, and empower.

Kidzart Art is a weekly workshop and the dates for December are the 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th from 3:30 - 5pm. Tuition is $7 or $5 for members. This is a drop off program for children ages 5 and up.
