Spring Break Round-Up!

Are you looking for some fun, local things to do during Spring Break next week? Well, we’ve got you covered with 10 ideas!

1.  Ice Skating

My kids love going to WinterLand Adventures in the ViaPort mall in Leesburg!  Children ages 4 and up can skate. Full-service refreshments are available. Make sure you try a delicious crepe! It's a comfortable temperature so no need to dress super warm.

 Monday - Thursday 11am - 8pm |  Friday 3pm - 12am  |  Saturday 10am - 12am  |  Sunday 11am - 8pm.

2.  Waterfront Park

This park has something for everyone! Splash park, boating, canoeing, swimming, relaxing on the beach and hiking trail. Waterfront Park, 330 3rd Street in Clermont. In addition, on Saturday, March 21st grab your friends and family for a scavenger hunt to explore downtown Clermont by bike! The Clermont Cycle & Seek will allow teams of 2-4 people to discover unique local businesses and interesting details about the City of Clermont. Start and Finish the ride at Waterfront Park with music prizes and lots of fun. Come get some exercise, enjoy the outdoors, and see some historical and scenic views.

3.  Ceramic Painting

Sometimes an artistic escape is what you need! Check out Ceramics 2 Paint in Tavares and enjoy an afternoon of relaxation and creativity. Pick a theme for the day or choose items you can gift to grandparents for the holidays.

4.  Kayaking

We live in Lake County but when was the last time you explored our waterways? All ages can enjoy a kayak trip through Adventure Outdoor Paddle from Wooton Park in Tavares.  Rent kayaks on your own or sign up for a guided adventure and enjoy all of the nature our beautiful area has to offer.

5. Family Cooking Fun

Cooking with kids not only is a fun and cheap activity, it’s great for giving them some life-skills, boosting their confidence, and even practicing some fine-motor skills. Even better, helping in the kitchen can entice even the fussiest of eaters to try something new and maybe add a new veg or two to their limited repertoire. One friend told me she is planning to do St. Patrick's Day green pancakes! I found these 35 St. Patrick's Day Recipes for Kids too.

6.  Indoor Fun - Go-Karts / Bowling / Bouncing

Ok this one is for the rainy day or the one where you just want to chill while the kids are active indoors. Via Entertainment in Leesburg is your one-stop spot for go-kart racing, bowling, bounce houses, arcade, escape rooms and of course, food!

7.  Biking Trails

Have you checked out the Mt. Dora Mountain Bike Trail yet? If not, you have to go! I would recommend for ages 6 and up. It's located on East 11th Avenue. Go to Lincoln Community Park and go to the dog park, the trail entrance is on the far end. If you don't want to do mountain biking, just head over to Mount Dora Bikes and rent a few regular bikes to explore all over downtown. Stop and get some ice cream at Scoops and feed the ducks at Gilbert Park.

8.  Boat Tours

Enjoy a day on the lake by taking a guided boat tour with Premier Boat Tours in Mount Dora or rent a pontoon boat on your own and go fishing in the Chain of Lakes! There are plenty of waterside restaurants to stop and enjoy lunch in Tavares, Eustis, Leesburg and Mt. Dora. We love to grab sandwiches to go from The Deli Llama in Tavares before we go boating.

9.  DIY Day

My daughter is obsessed with DIY projects. We have a DIY box filled with stuff from Target dollar bins, The Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby for rainy day activities. I highly recommend visiting Alexandre & Company in Mt. Dora for a day of crafting together! Painting with a Twist is always a good time too.

10.  Picnic in the Park

There are quite a few beautiful parks for a picnic in our area but our favorites are Lake Idamere Park in Tavares (dog park, fishing, playground) and Venetian Gardens in Leesburg (splash pad, fishing, playground). They both offer beautiful waterfront picnicking and plenty to do for all ages.
