Faith Corner

By Pastor Mario Bolivar October 3, 2019

On Sunday, October 6th Christian Churches around the world celebrate World Communion Sunday (Worldwide Communion Sunday) which in part is a contribution of the Presbyterian Church to the larger ecumenical church that began in 1933.World Communion Sunday ought to be a special celebration in the life of every Christian worshiping community. On that day, each congregation that participates makes the conscious decision to leave their differences aside with other denominations and with humility seeks to worship together for the Glory of God. The people of God ought to come together, the church is not a group of us, but a group of all. Remember what the author of the letter to the Corinthians said “Indeed, the body does not consist of one member but of many.” 1 Cor. 12:14 (NRSV)
We all are called to do God’s work together! We are called to acknowledge and respect our differences, to work on the things that united us rather than focusing on the things that divide us.

Today, as many churches around the world consider how to celebrate World Communion Sunday, take some time to find what areas within your community of faith could be expended to work with other Christian organizations. Think outside of your stained-glass windows.
People of God #nomatterwhat, we all can witness the incredible power and redemptive work of our Lord Jesus Christ. Consider how millions of Christians will celebrate the sacrament of communion this Sunday and how all men, women, and children will be charged and encouraged to show God’s love!

Be of good courage and know that you are loved
