Disney’s Aladdin JR. is playing at First Baptist Church of Leesburg from Friday, May 3rd through Saturday, May 4th at 7:00 PM and 6:00 PM. The spectacular 60-minute musical, designed for middle school-aged performers, is based on the 1992 Disney film and the 2014 Broadway adaptation. The First Academy – Leesburg Drama Department cast includes 54 students led by Heather Davis and Sara James.
“As head director for the past four years, it has been an absolute joy to watch the First Academy – Leesburg Drama Department grow,” says Heather Davis, Sixth grade teacher and Drama Club Director at First Academy - Leesburg. “This year, we had over one hundred students audition for a place on the stage and our cast of fifty-four students has a passion for the arts, and a desire to do their best. They know they are performing for the Lord, and to see them use their talents to glorify Him is extremely rewarding.”

Join Aladdin, Jasmine, and the fast-talking, wisecracking Genie as they discover mystical caves, take magic carpet rides, and outwit the evil sorcerer, Jafar. Adapted especially for young performers, this musical includes favorite Alan Menken songs such as “Friend Like Me,” “A Whole New World,” and “Prince Ali,” as well as wonderful new songs added for the Broadway production. With new, colorful characters and nonstop adventure, Aladdin JR. is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for all ages!
“What makes our drama department so unique is it is all student-led,” explains Davis. “The stage makeup is created and applied by our high school students; the backstage crew is comprised of our high school students and all of the backdrops and props are hand painted and designed by our high school students. The students have been preparing tirelessly to make each year the best year yet. You won’t want to miss it! We look forward to seeing you there.”
