Join AdventHealth Waterman on April 17 at 5 p.m. for a free skin cancer prevention lecture and screening in the hospital’s Mattison Conference Center at 1000 Waterman Way, Tavares.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Peter Marzek will explain how to spot the early warning signs of skin cancer, what to expect during diagnosis, and the various treatment options available.
“More people are diagnosed with skin cancer than any other cancer in the U.S., and more than 600 die from melanoma in Florida annually,” said Marzek. “Educating people how to protect themselves and to identify abnormalities is key to prevention and early detection.”
Following the lecture, AdventHealth Waterman will provide a free screening until 7 p.m. for the first 25 attendees that register. The screening will include an examination of sun exposed areas not covered by everyday clothing such as the head, neck and arms. Registration is required to be screened.
