Five Lake County Breakfast Spots We Love

April 4, 2019

My kids and my husband love to go out to breakfast on a weekend morning. I can't say I often tell them no.

After all, what’s not to love about breakfast? No matter what kind of breakfast you’re in the mood for -- the sweet or the savory -- you can find it in Lake County.

Plus … breakfast has bacon!

And don’t even get me started on Bloody Marys!

Hungry for breakfast yet?

I am! So I've rounded up my family's choices for the top five breakfast spots in the Lake County area, along with the reasons that my family loves them. I've listed them in alphabetical order:

Highland Street Cafe

185 S. Highland Street, Mount Dora

Hours: 7 AM - 2 PM Daily

What we love: This one tops the list because a.) casual kid-friendly atmosphere and b.) the menu includes everything kids and adults could possibly want for breakfast. Bonus: they serve breakfast ALL DAY so you don't have to go early to get your bacon fix! Highland Street Cafe has been around for about a dozen years and regularly gets voted a local favorite by foodies.

Sunrise Grill

462 E. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares

Hours: 5:30 AM - 1 PM Weekends / 5:30 AM - 2 PM Weekdays

What we love: We usually hit up Sunrise Grill after a Saturday morning game of football because it is conveniently located on Highway 441 in Tavares and has super fast service. If you love a diner atmosphere and menu then definitely check this place out. Consistently good food and great menu items.

Fruitland Park Cafe

3180 US Highway 441 / 27, Fruitland Park

Hours: 6 AM - 2 PM Daily

What we love: Ok, confession - I used to go here for breakfast three times per week after my morning workout.  It was that good! And it is immediately next door to the gym so..... yeah. If you want to go to a diner where everyone knows everybody and you become a friend not just a customer, then this is your place. Fruitland Park Cafe is super small, has a simple and straightforward menu with super fast and friendly service.

Yalaha Bakery

8210 CR 48, Yalaha

Hours: 8 AM - 5 PM Daily

What we love: This spot takes the cake for most unique breakfast / brunch spot in Lake County!  Family-owned since 1995, the Yalaha Bakery features all natural and organic ingredients from around the world. Take your hunger and your kids to this spot for some delicious and creative pastries, breads and traditional German entrees. Definitely try the Nurnberger breakfast or the Leberkaesse breakfast and let us know what you think!

Hungry yet? Me too. Time for breakfast.
