Can I Really Be Fab, Fit and Fun?

By Heather Tootle is a marketing superwoman by trade, mom to budding soccer star Zoey and has been married to Jayson, lifelong Lake County resident, for 10 years. December 12, 2018

As women we compare ourselves every day to the images we see on social media. Women with shiny, frizz-free hair, fashionably stylized and back lit with glowing highlighter shining off their cheeks, Starbucks coffee in hand. Not to mention the pose, the one that looks so effortless, yet when you try it, you look like a strange mannequin in a store-front window, rigid and unnatural.

I found a small way to help bridge the gap between these kinds of posts and real life. It’s a subscription box whose name in itself, says that if I buy it, I too, can be fab, fit and fun! Sign me up, I need all the help I can get.

FabFitFun is a quarterly subscription box featuring lifestyle products ranging from jewelry and home goods to skincare and makeup. Of the full-sized products in my box, there were several that will help elevate me to the IG icon level of style.

To keep me stylishly warm, my box included a cozy throw blanket by Mark & Graham and a pair of over-the-knee textured socks that they recommend wearing over leggings with knee-high boots. The Moroccan Gold Series treatment mask and Oribe Gold Lust dry shampoo are perfect for Florida weather that isn’t sure if it will be 50 or 95 degrees. I love the Lele Sadoughi silver-plated circle necklace, which I have already worn several times and was easy to mix into my collection. I just turned 40, so I was happy to receive the Ahava hydration cream mask and a box of Blaq Hydrogel Eye Masks with hyaluronic acid. The other three products were the Brooke Burke body sliders to make body-weight, at-home workouts easier, a set of Way of Will essential oils and a Thrive Causemetics brilliant eye brightener.

I’m not saying this is a box of magic that will instantly make me look and feel as put together as the women on Instagram. We all know that it’s not easy, it’s not effortless. In fact, it takes a lot of work behind the scenes in real life. The shiny, frizz-free hair takes 45 minutes to achieve on a non-humid day. The stylized outfit is the product of trying on 5 outfits and settling for one that I feel good in. Glowing skin is certainly boosted by slathering and peeling, but is nothing without the glow from within that is achieved by taking this time out for self-care. As for the perfect pose, I’ve decided to leave that to the pros and just post pics of my family and friends.

FabFitFun is a treat every few months to help me maintain my practice of self-care and I am glad my very good friend talked me into subscribing. If you want to check out this box for yourself, visit www.FabFitFun.com for all the details!
