MacKid was There!!! Crayola Experience

By Lena Kane, Managing Editor September 6, 2017

Labor Day weekend is an opportunity for family time, no matter what form it comes in. Thanks to people of the past fighting for better working conditions, we were blessed with a holiday reminding us of the important things in life. In our non-stop society that we have created, we have to steal these moments when they are available. This weekend is a great opportunity in this school district to regroup after the first couple of weeks of school and evaluate what has worked and hasn’t worked as part of the new busy schedule. I hope you took advantage of that one!

The Kane family actually got a 3 day weekend together which is extremely rare! So, we headed out to check out the Crayola Experience in Orlando. (There may just be some tickets coming up in the MacKid Giveaway line up…more on that very soon). All 4 of us enjoy art and love to create whether it is fingerpainting or sketching or drawing with chalk all over the driveway. Needless to say, we had lots of fun. We took advantage of free military weekend as both MacDad and I are veterans. So, yes, you are supporting a female veteran business by letting me keep you informed via my newsletter – go you!!! The Crayola Experience staff was friendly and helpful and each station brought a new fun experience that the girls talked about the whole way home. Their favorite though was getting to name their own crayons. As seen in the picture, we had colors named after our dog, Marco, and even MacDad threw a military tribute color in the mix. The facility was clean and offered experiences that engaged kids of all ages and stages. They had a great little educational "How It's Made" show to wow the kids with cool machines.  My favorite was the melted crayon drip-art area. You got to control how fast the surface spun underneath the dripping crayons to create your masterpiece. Very cool! We did not get to see it all because we got hungry and there was a Gator game to watch, but I will definitely be visiting again soon. MacKids approved! The girls’ tickets were 25% off for military weekend, but I saw $4 off tickets at our local libraries and I believe Groupon has a special right now too. Go create!
