So, this week has been an exciting week with a mixture of new beginnings and some endings that will bring new things. One of the things we have to teach our children is that with each end something new crops up, and opens doors to new experiences and people.
One of the endings that kind of made me sad was yet another Disney beloved favorite to find its way into the history books of Disney. The Great Movie Ride which showcased favorite movie scenes from Alien to The Wizard of Oz to Casablanca is now gone. I did get to ride it one last time on Friday. I watched fans walk up and hug the outside of the ride saying their goodbyes. I still remember rides like "Mister Toad’s Wild Ride" and "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" disappearing from my vacation experience, but they have brought new experiences in their wake. As we stood outside the ride, the Star Wars characters ended their performance and were walking by and my two 8 year olds went ballastic with excitement when they saw old and new characters. This is why Disney changes, to blend the old with the new in a way that bridges generations.
Also, this month is the end of summer! Another fun summer with friends we don’t get to see all year because they are in traditional school and we loaf about the house homeschooling (Ha! “loaf about the house,” I make myself laugh!) In a last ditch effort to bring some sunshine to the end of summer and a little extra fun to Labor Day holiday weekend coming up, we are going to run a GIVEAWAY!!! Yes, a new fresh beach and pool fun toy package to enjoy these last weekends of splash pads and pool time. I have to say it is so bright and fun that it looks like it wants to stay right here at Chez Kane with the twincesses!
The newest beginning for this family is our Macaroni Kid adventure. Even though I am technically the person doing the job, it influences the whole family. Having them cheer me on and offer their creative input as I dig in and get excited is a priceless gift. I cannot imagine a better area in which to have some fun with all of the arts festivals and long-running events that have made this area so rich in character. I have so many exciting giveaways lined up and events to cover!
