Welcome Home Dinner at Olivia's Cafe

By Sarah Schwerin June 21, 2017

Our house has been fairly lonely this past week as my husband has been away on a business trip. We were overjoyed to pick him up at the airport, even though the Orlando airport is a mad house on Friday night. Driving home, we decided to stop by for dinner at Olivia's Cafe in Walt Disney World's Old Key West. Despite being a Friday night, the restaurant was sparsely populated and we were seated quite quickly. The nautical themed dinner menu ($15-$35) is reminiscent of the laid back atmosphere of the Old Key West's namesake. The gluten free menu that my son received included dinner and lunch offerings, such as sandwiches that were more economical than the dinner entrees.

The bread service for the evening came with a yummy pineapple butter that my kids were tempted to eat with a spoon. For dinner, I chose the mahi-mahi and my husband chose the shrimp and grits. We both agreed that it was the best food we had ever had at a Disney resort. Our kids enjoyed the mahi-mahi also and were quite disgruntled that we wouldn't spring for one of the mouth watering deserts that "everyone" around us were ordering.

Based on fictitious Olivia Farnsworth, the restaurant has a homey feel with framed family portraits and knick-knacks decorating the space. A stroll around the original Disney Vacation Club property was a great way to end our welcome home celebration. For more information click here.
