Coffee and Cats

By Sarah Schwerin May 10, 2017

Feline fanatics and coffee connoisseurs unite. The new Orlando Cat Cafe seemed like an ideal place to take our feline fan during our latest trip to Clermont, Florida. Located in the Town Center at Cagan Crossings on Hwy 27, North of Hwy 192, the Orlando Cat Cafe is approximately 4 miles west of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. When we entered the cafe we were disappointed that we had already eaten lunch, as the pastries, coffee and sandwiches looked delectable. The cafe even offers gluten free options. All the goodies can be enjoyed in the cafe, while you watch the kitties through a window, or in the Cat Play/Adoption Area, where you can enter for an admission fee. We loved petting, playing with and watching the free range cats as they romped and napped. Decorated with all types of feline decor, the play area is a relaxing environment with classical music playing in the background. The only down side of our visit was that the cats were not very active. Next time we drop in, we will need to plan our reservation during the morning or after lunch when the cats are less likely to be enjoying a catnap. Even though the cafe only had a few patrons when we visited (noon on a Thursday), the website warns that the cafe can get quite crowded and a reservation is recommended during peak times.

All of the cats at the Café are adoptable. The knowledgeable volunteers are helpful in providing information about the cats and the adoption process. The adoption information is available on their website, as well as their special events, guidelines for visiting with little ones and more information. So for a “purr-fect” good time visit the Orlando Cat Café or search for a cat café in your own neighborhood.
