Do you like to help people? Do you want to have a fun, wholesome time with your family and friends? If you answered yes to both of these questions, then we have the day for you. Dream Acres for Autism is holding its First Annual Paws of Honor Fundraising Festival In The Villages Polo Club, on Saturday, November 15th. Parking and Registration are at the North End Pavilion Entrance. Check-in begins at 8:15a.m., Paws of Honor Dog-Walk-a-Thon & Vendor Shopping will begin at 9 a.m., and Festival Activities begin at 10:00 A.M. and will last until 3 P.M.

What is Dream Acres for Autism you may ask? They are a group of individuals that match qualified rescue dogs to assist individuals with Autism. Each animal resides with their rescue foster families until they are temperament tested and matched with their recipient to go directly to the home of the Autistic child/youth recipient. Dream Acres then meets with the families to help them on a regular basis with training so the animal and recipient will have a life long bond and partnership.

The Festival events include Arts, Crafts, and Health Vendors including a few Pet Rescue Vendor groups. There will also be food, music, a children's corner, activities for dogs and their owners, Paws of Honor awards, fun hearted contests, and silent and quarter auctions. The quarter auction will have vendor donated items ranging from jewelry to costumed designed clothes. Tickets to attend the quarter auction are $5 a person and are available through vendors or by contacting Dream Acres at the email address listed below.

This event is FREE to the public; however, small donations are requested to participate in the dog contests, and activities. Dress comfortably and take into account that you may need a hat and sunscreen. Also water stations will be provided at the loop area and the loop is handicap accessible. Also, safe golf cart use is permitted for the walk-a-thon for whom ever may need to use them. There will also be golf carts picking up weary participants from the walk-a-thon. Free golf cart rides available back to festival entrance if the 1.5 mile loop becomes too much for any individual.

If you wish to donate time, sponsor a service animal, or are a dog trainer who has some extra time on their hands then Dream Acres is putting a call out to you. The demand for service animals is high, but the benefits to the individuals are worth the time and donations that you give. All proceeds go directly to helping Dream Acres recipients. Please come and donate your time, for there is no greater reward than giving to others. Please touch the life of both an autistic child and a homeless dog.
