When my family hears that it is time for U-Pick Blueberry season they get excited! At just $4.00 per pound, it means for a couple of months we have an endless supply of blueberries at our disposal. I purchase blueberries for my family throughout the year, but with four kids in the house we have to share a little bit more when blueberries are not locally in season.

Sand Hill Blueberries has been our go to blueberry u-pick since they opened several years ago when my children were just toddlers. One of my favorite things about Sand Hill Blueberries is that Melanie, the owner, encourages the kids to eat the blueberries as they are picking. She doesn't view this as an annoyance or a profit loss, instead she lights up with joy in watching the faces of the children who are munching on the abundance of berries while they are picking.

Another great feature at Sand Hill Blueberries is the variety of berries. They grow various types of blueberries and they all have different flavors. Some are a little sweeter and some more tart. This makes for the perfect picking experience for a wide variety of favorite flavors. Before I began picking at Sand Hill Blueberries, I didn't even realize that there were different varieties of blueberries.

After picking, my children enjoy a nice cold drink and a snack from the little store that is set up on an adorable wooden deck. You can also check out a variety of local honey, blue berry jam, farm fresh eggs, etc. while purchasing your blueberries.

Sand Hill Blueberries is open Tuesday- Sunday from 9:00-6:00.

They are located at 31614 Bottany Woods Dr, Eustis.
